I’m very much writing this after the fact, indeed, we celebrated Yule on the weekend of the 23rd June 2012, and are now very much two months hence.  Ostara feels like it is just around the corner, and given the more Spring-like weather we’ve been having, it feels that way both figuratively and literally.

As Yule falls in the middle of our Calendar year, it tends to be a less elaborate undertaking than that which our ancestors would have experienced, and indeed, for me, this year it was no less different.  You may be wondering why it falls in the middle of the year?  Well, Yule is a Winter festivity, so rather than having it around December, which simply would be incongruous, we hold it when it should be held, in the middle of Winter.  Of course this means that we have no Public Holidays with which to work…
